The author visited Cave No.3 of the Klasies River Mouth Caves along the Indian Ocean coast of Eastern Cape Province of Republic of South Africa in April 2007. Although the caves are known worldwide as the oldest modern human site, there were few visitors. Since then, the author has been interested in the origin and mechanism of language. Through interdisciplinary researches on linguistics, molecular biology, acoustic engineering, communication engineering, psychology, anthropology/primatology, neurophysiology, logistics, and information theory, the author came to a hypothesis that the fundamental and unique characteristic differentiating human from non-human-animals lies in digitalization of vocal communications, i.e. language.
However, probably because there are no common notions of 'digital' and 'digital communication' established and shared by people, the author's hypothetic papers were rejected by Journals and International Conferences. Therefore, since October 2009, he started to deliver presentations at relevant study groups in IPSJ, IEICE and JSAI.
In this paper, the author refers to the ideas of John von Neumann on Automata and of Niels Jerne on Networks, and investigates further human linguistic information system. |
