An AMC (Artificial magnetic conductor) which has PMC (Perfect magnetic conductor) characteristics attract much attention. On the PMC surface, electromagnetic waves are reflected without phase rotation. On the other hand, FSS (Frequency Selective Surface) is composed of metal pieces arranged at narrow intervals, and it has the frequency-band-rejection or frequency-band-pass characteristics.
In this paper, a design method of AMC with dielectric substrate using loop-type FSS which has band-rejection characteristics is presented. The effects of the frequency characteristics of FSS and permittivity of dielectric substrate on PMC characteristic are analyzed. As the results, it is indicated that thinner AMC can be realized by using dielectric substrate. Moreover, it is clarified that the thickness of the designed AMC is less than 1/√(ε_r ) . |
