For low voltage switching devices, the interruption performance is closely related to the arc chamber. In this paper, to improve the interruption performance, a new design of arc chamber is proposed. It has three representative features: the structure of non-equidistant and arc arrangement splitter plates, trumpet-shaped gas channels formed by splitter and arc starting plates and making advantage of horizontal and erecting plates. In order to test the capability of the new design, experiments on the former, the new design and the improving design chambers are carried out. Waveforms of arc current, arc voltage and arc motion process captured with the high-speed camera are analyzed. The results show that using the chamber with the three features, the interruption performance is improved prominently. |
