Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Another person's gaze direction triggers an automatic shift of our visual attention. Recently, the effect of the head orientation on the attention shift has been discussed. In this study, we used pictures of back views of person as experimental stimuli, excluding the effect of a gaze direction of the person in the picture. We measured a subject's reaction time employing a target detection task. The results showed that the back-view stimuli could shift the subject's visual attention as well as the front-view stimuli. However, under the back-view stimulus condition, the subject's reaction time was longer than that under the front-view stimulus condition.
