Preliminary Experiments on Brain Switch using Portable NIRS Apparatus

(in English) A non-invasive 2-channel near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) - based BMI system has been developed, which will provide the communication tools for motor disabilities in home or hospitals. Experimental results for 22 participants show that data for mental calculation were categorized into four patterns and each switching time at threshold of 0.7 was 15.2 s (pattern 1), 4.7 s (pattern 2), 4.8 s (pattern 3), 5.7 s (pattern 4), respectively. We have also demonstrated the character-selection scenarios using motor imagery tasks.
