Burst RF Signal Amplification for EPWM Transmitter

(in English) In an Envelope Pulse Width Modulation(EPWM) transmitter, amplitude of a high PAPR signal such as OFDM is converted to a PWM signal by a delta-sigma(Δ-Σ) modulator. The EPWM signal with the PWM envelope is amplified by a
saturation amplifier without causing nonlinear distortion. However, burst-mode EPWM signal requires high speed ON-OFF operation of the saturation amplifier. In addition, a BPF is necessary to suppress quantization noise from Δ-Σ modulator .In
this paper, conditions are discussed for high efficiency RF burst-mode amplification with the saturation amplifier and BPF. Total operation of the saturation amplifier and BPF for the RF burst signal is presented.
