Stop-band characteristics of a corrugated waveguide filter are analyzed. The filter has a periodic structure and is usually designed by an image parameter method. According to the image propagation constant of a period, the filter has a low pass-band and a wide stop-band with a narrow spurious pass-band where the image attenuation is zero. The image impedance is resistive in both of the pass-bands as well known, while the analyzed values of the resistance are extremely different. The difference gives a high attenuation in the spurious image pass-band caused by impedance mismatch. The wide stop-band characteristic without the spurious image pass-band is confirmed by F-matrix calculation. |
