In this paper, we propose a method of free-viewpoint image generation using moving object extraction. In free-viewpoint image generation, artifacts occur in the occlusion areas of the generated images. And it takes a lot of time to generate a high-quality free-viewpoint image. We propose a novel method to solve these problems. In the proposed method, the background images are captured and the depth estimation is performed beforehand. When free-viewpoint images are generated, moving objects are detected using a background subtraction method and the depth estimation is performed in the detected region only. After that, the free viewpoint images are generated separately for the detected region and the background region. These images are finally combined. This method improves the image quality in the occlusion areas behind the detected objects. Furthermore, the processing time is reduced by computing the depth of the background beforehand. |
