QoE/QoS Assessment of IEEE 802.11 Audio-Video IP Transmission with a QoE-Based Video Output Scheme

(in English) We apply a QoE-based video output scheme called SCS (Switching between error Concealment and frame Skipping) to audio-video IP transmission over IEEE 802.11 wireless networks. The scheme switches from error concealment to frame skipping when the percentage of video slices error-concealed in a frame exceeds a threshold value. The effectiveness of the scheme has been demonstrated in wired networks. However, it has not been discussed how the characteristics of wireless networks affect the effectiveness of SCS. This report shows that SCS is also effective in QoE enhancement of audio-video IP transmission over the IEEE 802.11 wireless networks through QoS assessment by simulation and QoE assessment by a subjective experiment.
