| (in English) | In this paper, we describe an image recognition system combining a tree structured Self Organizing Map(SOM) for feature learning, and a tree structured template for its image recognition mechanism. The feature learning capability is achieved by hierarchically constructing base vectors using the Haar wavelet transform followed by clustering of the resultant image based on the SOM and Gram-Schmidt Orthonormalization(GSO) algorithms. The image recognition mechanism utilizes these base vectors to form tree structured templates, by which an image is matched against hierarchically following the coarse to fine methodology. A face recognition application based on the proposed system was created in order to demonstrate its effectiveness. | |
