Analysis of Differences in Hand- and Eye-Dominance in Pointing Movements

In the field of cognitive science, there are many reports about an evident of hand- or eye-movements.
If this knowledge is considered, it will be possible to achieve a useful gesture interface which supports the hand- or eye-dominance.
In this paper, we report differences between left- and right-eye dominance in pointing movements.
To evaluate the effect of the ocular dominance, we estimate the pointing position.
To be more precise, we suppose that a pointing position is on the line connecting the right or left eye to the right or left hand.
Subjects are asked to point at targets by their left and their right hands while sitting with their heads fixed on a chair.
In conclusion, we obtained the statistically-meaningful result that eye-dominance affects pointing movements. |
