| (in English) | Recently, network coding (NC) has been popularly applied to wireless networks in order to improve scarce wireless capacity. In wireless LANs, NC can be applied to packet retransmission, in which multiple packets can be equivalently transmitted by a single retransmission trial. On the other hand, NC creates additional delay at both sender and receiver, and hence, packet transfer delay increases seriously. However, existing methods do not consider this delay. In addition, when the number of flows is small, NC exhibits less benefit because the chances of NC are highly reduced. Therefore, we propose a novel NC-based retransmission method in order to improve packet transfer delay. Moreover, to improve NC’s benefit even when there are less flows, NC-based retransmission cooperates with the typical ARQ method. Finally, we show the effectiveness of the proposed methods by computer simulation. | |
