A Study on Performance of Pattern Diversity Reception in Outdoor to Indoor Radio Propagation

(in English) In order to achieve a stable radio communication between a base station and a radio terminals mounted on a standstill vending machine in an outdoor to indoor propagation environment, it is required to overcome a channel fluctuation due to human activities in indoor environments. It is commonly known that the pattern diversity reception using ESPAR antennas is one of the countermeasure techniques. This paper reports the fading reduction effect of a 3-elements ESPAR antenna, when it is mounted on a fixed terminal in an indoor environment and is applied into the outdoor to indoor propagation environment in which the channel fading is very frequently observed due to human activities around the terminal.
