Joint Quasi-orthogonalization for Nonlinear Precoding MU-MIMO

(in English) This paper proposes a novel channel quasi-orthogonalization scheme for improving the error rate performance of Downlink (DL) Multi-User Multiple Input Multiple Output (MU-MIMO) communications. The proposed scheme, called “Joint Quasi-Orthogonalization (JQO)”, is applicable to Nonlinear Precoding MU-MIMO in which Mobile Stations (MSs) apply Modulo-operations to their received signals. JQO “quasi-orthogonalizes” the channel matrices in order to suppress Multi-User Interference (MUI). Preprocessing JQO enables Tomlinson Harashima Precoding (THP) MU-MIMO to improve the power-efficiency. We demonstrate the algorithm of JQO and its key practical advantage: a low and fixed computational complexity at the Base Station (BS). Computer simulations show that JQO provides about 7.1 dBs of improvement of the error rate characteristic of THP MU-MIMO. In addition, we present that a replication of JQO yields further gains.
