Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We report on millimeter wave generation using Mach-Zehnder-modulator-based flat comb generator. An optical comb signal generated by the comb generator is divided into individual components by an optical demultiplexer, and two modes with a specific separation are extracted for photomixing. Merits of this system are (1) the comb spacing is precisely controllable by an rf signal driving the comb generator, (2) stability of the mode spacing is decided by that of the rf signal. By using this system, generation of 100 GHz beat signal from 12.5 GHz-spaced comb signal was demonstrated. The linewidth of the generated signals was narrower than 1 Hz.
