A NEDO project, “Development of Next-generation High-efficiency Network Device Technology” includes the development of ultrafast all-optical LAN technologies, which are capable of handling large-capacity uncompressed SHV (Super High-Vision) contents with low power consumption. This system uses electrical time-division-multiplexing technology to convert a full-resolution SHV signal to two 40 Gbps signals, and uses optical time division multiplexing technology to convert 40 Gbps signals to a 160 Gbps signal. The full-resolution SHV signal consists of 64 HD-SDI signals. We developed an experimental equipment to accommodate 64 HD-SDI signals in two OTU3 signal. The results of fundamental experiment showed that our system realized error-free conversion. |
