National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) successfully developed the quantum entanglement source called the hybrid entanglement, which connects between the space and fiber systems. This is the cutting-edge technology all over the world and the phase correlation of the entanglement can be converted into the polarization one and vice versa, which is the key technology for the terrestrial fiber and wireless networks. The transmissible distance for the quantum key distribution (QKD) is now limited up to about 150 km; however, it can be extended by using free-space transmission over satellites which realizes the intercontinental communications and the global QKD over the Earth. This paper describes the study plan on the mobile communications between airplanes and satellites and ground stations with QKD. |
