The LTE access system and its core network, so-called Evolved Packet Core (EPC), which has lunched at the end of 2010 in Japan, is the next generation mobile network focusing on the packet switching function. Therefore, the voice service over the LTE (VoLTE:Voice over LTE) will be provided by the IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) that enables the call control over the IP network. At the initial phase of the LTE deployment, however, its overage will not be large enough and the mobile terminal using VoLTE service may move to an area where only 3G is available. SRVCC is the mechanism by which the voice call over the LTE can be handed over to the circuit switched network where the IMS in the home network performs the path switching of the call. Enhanced SRVCC (eSRVCC) is also discussed in the 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) in order to minimize the voice call handover delay. eSRVCC assumes the voice media data of originating/terminating calls are anchored in the visited network and the path switching of the call is also performed in it. In this paper, we clarify the issues of eSRVCC anchoring function and propose the flexible anchoring mechanism considering the terminal capability, etc. |
