A Study on Monostatic Radar for Millimeter Wave Imaging System

(in English) We are considering sharing a large receiver antenna with the transmitter in out millimeter-wave imaging system to improve the image quality, etc.
However, a cancellation circuit to reduce the leakage of the transmitter signal into the receiver is generally required to share a single antenna between the transmitter and the receiver.In this paper, we report our single-antenna imaging system employing FMCW radar architecture that has a simplified receiver circuit using a single-ended mixer and a tapered transmitter signal avoiding any complex cancellation circuits.
The experimental results showed that the suppression effect of the leakage signal appearing on the range profile was larger in the range more than several meters.Accordingly, with the single-antenna imaging system, we confirmed the image quality was improved.
