Reducing Overloaded Search Routes to Reduce Search Load in P2P System
Naoki Ishikawa, Aki Kobayashi (Kogakuin Univ.) IN2010-207
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Replication methods in a P2P system have been extensively studied to find a way to reduce the content delivery load, and the content popularity can be completely balanced.
However, the results of our simulation on the Kademlia routing algorithm show that some nodes have a huge queried load regardless of biased or un-biased content popularity.
We focused on reducing a huge queried load on each node.
First, we describe how nodes with a huge load were successively-placed along a convergent path for the search load.
Second, we proposed a way of cutting off the chain of a search and thus reduce the number of chained high-load nodes.
The method can be used to actively cache highly frequently searched content information at relay search nodes.
The cached information responds to a search initiate node.
Our method can be used with lookup response interoperability.
Therefore, this approach is compatible with the Kademlia network and incrementally transposable.
On the basis of our simulation results, we present a method that has reduced and balanced load irrespective of its biased content popularity.
