A Study on Routing Method Using ENUM in Next Generation Network

(in English) In IMS based NGN, 3GPP specifies that the domain name of destination network returned from ENUM is used for routing within origin network. However, according to operator’s policy, there is a case that the NGN connects to another network with multiple POIs (Point Of Interface), and the selection of POI depends on the telephone number of caller or callee. In these networks, there is an issue that the routing within origin network can not be done because the POI is not determined by the domain name of destination network which is returned from ENUM. Hence, this paper shows the consideration of determination method of POI when information from ENUM is used for routing in NGN.
