MIMO-OFDM IDMA Scheme Employing Interleave-Division Multiplexing and Adaptive Resource Allocation

(in English) This report proposes a MIMO-OFDM interleave-division multiple access (IDMA) scheme employing both interleave-division multiplexing (IDM) and adaptive resource allocation for uplink mobile communication systems. OFDM-IDMA, which is a combination of OFDM and IDMA, has been investigated because it is expected to improve spectrum efficiency. Since all subcarriers are allocated to all users for conventional OFDM-IDMA systems, subcarriers incurring low channel gains degrade the transmission performance. To compensate for such degradation, this report applies both IDM and adaptive resource allocation to OFDM-IDMA. The proposed scheme divides all subcarriers into multiple resource blocks (RBs), and then IDM combines multiple streams which are permuted by individual interleavers and transmits the combined streams using one RB. Owing to IDM, the scheme can decrease the number of assigned RBs while maintaining the transmission rate for each user. Moreover, the adaptive resource allocation assigns RBs to users so that it can improve SINR for each user and can achieve high throughput. Specifically, it first allocates RBs based on SNR for each user, while not considering interference from other users. After that, it repeats an SINR-based allocation that takes into account other users' RB assignment. Computer simulations evaluate the throughput performance of the proposed scheme when a repetition code is used as a low-rate channel code, and demonstrate that the proposed scheme achieves the same throughput performance as OFDMA in the case of SISO, and outperforms OFDMA in the case of 4 x 4 MIMO.
