Visualization of Routing Mechanism for Network Beginners in Higher Education

(in English) The first half of the paper describes design and development of a graphical simulator in order to understand practically routing mechanism of the third layer's protocol of OSI.An aim of utilizing such a simulator is to improve Network studying for beginners in Higher education.This simulator has been implemented in Javascript because of being available for general browsers on multiple OS environments.Users of the simulator can set/locate test route, namely network topology with network devices and terminals (PCs). After definition of test network, the simulator can create routing table for data transferring in the virtual (i.e. testing) network. According to operations from users, simulating network performance can be carried out based on users' specification and demonstrated as graphical animation
The second half of the paper shows how to utilize the simulator to learn Network literacy.It is much more necessary to learn Network literacy as information literacy is getting focused in the higher education.With such a simulator, learning network mechanism will be more efficient even for beginners in higher education. Additionally, not only learners but also instructors can utilize this simulators in order to explain how network operates visually.
