An Algorithm Generating Subjective Contours with Curvature for Pixel-Parallel Hardware Architecture

(in English) The edge information of contours in natural images captured by an image sensor is often lacked due to poor contrast with the background and illumination conditions, which may cause incorrect recognition results. However, even in such cases, human can recognize an object by generating imaginary contours, which is known as subjective contours. For artificial subjective-contour generation, we have already proposed a cellular-automaton. type propagation algorithm suitable for pixel-parallel hardware architecture. However, the previous algorithm only generates linear segments for subjective contours. In this report, we propose an improved algorithm that can generate subjective contours with curvature, and show some successful results with figures that may induce subjective contours.
