Event-Related Synchronization of δ-Rhythm Related to Recollection with memory task

(in English) We investigated amplitude modulation of delta band rhythm associated with recollection of short term memory by using magnetoencephalograph. As memory task, each participant (n=10) was continuously presented seven arrow images, and memorized the order of the presented arrow directions. Afterwards, the numeric figure (1-7) was presented (e.g., “3”), the participant recollected the arrow direction which was presented in the order indicated by the numeric figure (i.e., third order), and answered the direction by pushing button. As a control tasks, each participant was presented the arrow image as the same manner of the memory task, just seeing without memorizing the arrow directions. The obtained magnetoencephalogram were averaged based on the timing of the button pushing. During the recollection period, the amplitude of delta band rhythm in frontal area was larger during the memory task than that during the control task. This result suggested the possibility of that event-related synchronization (ERS) of the brain activity of delta band in the frontal area is related to the recollection of short-term memory.
