A system which forecasts the appearance of pedestrians within the specified area and the specified time is proposed. This is enabled by using the information regarding the spatio-temporal distributions aggregated on the center database or in the storages of car navigation equipments. The sources are expected to be acquired through the on-board cameras, the fixed-point cameras, and the mobile phones.
At this time, more than 70 % of logical prediction rates on average have been verified by using principal component regressive analysis on the basis of situation matrices which are manually extracted from the 156 driving scenes captured during the period from 2005 to 2007.
Additionally, the mean values of ET(Estimated Truth) are estimated to simulate the prediction rates when the image recognition rates are degraded. According to the simulation experiments, it has been shown that the system would attain the same level of prediction performance as the case when using GT (Ground Truth)s, if the recognition rates are more than or equal to 70 %. Future assignments are the verification on various regions, the experiments by using real image recognizer, the integration of plural recognized results, and the investigations on the effects of feedback mechanism from the prediction module to the recognition module. |
