UVP (Ultrasound Velocity Profile monitor) employing pulsed ultrasound has been widely used for measuring velocity profiles. However, the UVP can obtain only one-dimensional velocity profiles. To obtain two-dimensional velocity profiles, a measuring system using phased array technique was developed. In this study, a suitable transducer was designed, and evaluated its performance from intensities of sound fields. A signal processing system for measuring the velocity profiles was developed, and applied for a Taylor-Couette flow. As a result, a two dimensional velocity profile was obtained, and the vortices could be confirmed. |
