A robot is a system that consists of at least one or more of sensors, computers, and actuators. The parts are connected organically for the robot to perform a task. Under the definition, the robot is not only a biped walking humanoid, but also, a car, a train, a factory line, a house, a road, a computer, a smart phone, active IC card and so on. Network robot is a combination of them which are connected via internet or a communication network. Since there are vast number of purposes of the network robot, we cannot estimate the number of the combination of the network robots. A lot of researchers and developers collect or develop parts for their own robot and construct it. On the other hand, a lot of people such as comsumer users will employ the network robot for the use in a disaster area, elderly care, and entertainment. The process of designing a robot must be improve to satisfy the wide range of the users. Let’s consider a new designing process; a user can get software, hardware (which needs a physical delivery), human-interface software from a cloud server for developing a robot by describing the purpose of the robot, its functions to achieve the purpose, the relation between the functions, and the specification of its parts. We call it a cloud network robot (CNR). Since Japanese industries are good at combining hardware and software, CNR encourages Japanese technologies to have effects worldwide. |
