Proposal for a Hierarchical Replacement Control of Virtual Machines in a Data Center Network Inspired by Schrödinger's Aperiodic Crystal

(in English) In recent year, cloud computing, which is new usage of computers, becomes widespread. Computer hardware virtualization is used for a base technology of cloud computing. By using the computer hardware virtualization, data center network with flexible resource assignment would be built for efficient cloud computing. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical
replacement control of virtual machines for efficiently utilizing network and computer resources in a data center network. Our replacement control places virtual machines with high communication frequency in the near communication distance while balancing loads in physical machines. Moreover, for small traffic cost in migrations of virtual machines, our replacement
control has the mechanism inspired by Schr¨odinger’s aperiodic crystal to only react to drastic change in in traffic rates and loads. Finally, through simulation experiments, we confirm the behavior of our replacement control.
