Acoustical functions of porous polymer membrane

(in English) Porous polymer membranes which have many tiny holes are a material with the both features of porous
and membrane. Recently, the control of the tiny hole becomes easy with the rapid expansion of microfabrication
technology. The porous polymer membranes can consequently be applied to compact acoustic systems in order to
modify the frequency response. However, the acoustic functions of the porous polymer membranes has not been
clarified yet. Hence, we examine the acoustic functions of the porous polymer membranes applied to MEMS microphones.
In the analysis, the frequency responses of the MEMS microphone attached with various porous polymer
membranes which have different structure and material were measured. The acoustic functions of the porous polymer
membranes are clarified based on some features of the measured frequency responses. Moreover, the acoustic
phenomenon of the porous polymer membranes is examined using acoustic equivalent circuit analysis.
