Although Global Positioning System (GPS) employing radio information from multiple satellites has been widely used, the system is not available in indoor environments.
Wireless sensor networks are considered as indoor positioning techniques instead of GPS, and many RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator)-used schemes have been proposed because of its low power and low cost.
RSSI is, however, affected by radio emitted from other electronic devices and multipath fading caused by physical objects.
The positioning accuracy of RSSI-used method is much lower than other methods using arrival time and arrival angle of radio signals.
This paper proposes a method which achieves the high estimation accuracy by using communication quality determined by RSSI.
In this method, nodes at stable radio conditions are selected based on the determined quality, and appropriate weights are assigned to those nodes for position estimation.
Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method. |
