Coverage Area Performance of MB-OFDM UWB In-car Wireless Communication in The Presence of Multiple Terminals

(in English) This paper investigates the coverage area performance for in-car MB-OFDM UWB communication in the presence of plural terminals. Recent years, the increase in complicated wire harness increases the weight and consequently harms the environment friendliness especially in a luxury car. Therefore, it is expected that in-car network is built by wireless communication as well as wired network. In this paper, we present two multiplexing schemes using plural transmit antennas: one is space division multiple access (SDMA) and the other is time division multiple access (TDMA) using transmit diversity. Moreover, SDMA is performed by multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) with linear precoding and TDMA employs transmit diversity using Alamouti space time block code (STBC). Numerical results show the performance comparison in terms of the coverage area between these two multiplexing schemes and verify the applicability of the multi-user scenario to the in-car wireless communication under the power density limitation of UWB.
