Experiments and numerical simulations were conducted to find a possible performance of a technique for measuring distributed strain and temperature based on the Rayleigh backscattering in a fiber using a coherent OTDR. We achieved distributed temperature measurements with a resolution of 0.01℃ and a spatial resolution of one meter over a 40-km long fiber. Based on the experimental and numerical results, we estimated the performance of the technique under variable conditions. |
