This report discusses and clarifies the issues of RF (radio frequency) energy harvesting (scavenging) technologies by collecting the electromagnetic energy used as the broadcasting service and cellular phone system. At first, the electric field strength inside a coverage area of base station is demonstrated to use for RF energy harvesting in the cellular phone system and TV/radio systems. A key technical problem is a design of rectifier to collect the RF energy under low electric field strength environments. For examples by RF energy harvesting, we present a sensor monitoring system in the vicinity of cellular base station. This report also presents other applications of RF energy harvesting. |
