Studies on the Excitation by the Electromagnetic Coupling to a Flexible Slot Antenna Backed by a Thin Cavity

(in English) A slot antenna backed by a thin cavity that is excited by the electromagnetic coupling is studied. The excitation of the antenna is performed by an electromagnetic coupling, so no solder or conductive adhesive is used. The microstrip line as a feeder is made on a soft substrate in order to be bent along the curved antenna surface when it is bent. The relation between the position of excitation and impedance matching is showed. The reflection and radiation characteristics of a cavity-backed slot antenna fabricated of a conductive textile have been measured. The operation frequency is about 2.2GHz. The variation in the characteristics is evaluated when the antenna is bent.
