Resonant Characteristic Analysis of a New Three-Mode H-Shaped Microstrip Resonator and Design of Compact Bandpass Filters

(in English) This paper proposes a novel compact three-mode resonator consisting of parallel-coupled microstrip lines. Closed-form resonance conditions of the even and odd modes of the resonator are first derived, and the behavior of the resonant modes are investigated and verified by the comparison with an eigen-mode analysis using an electromagnetic simulator. The electric-field distributions of the fundamental and harmonic resonances are analyzed, and a spurious even-mode suppression technique is also presented. As a consequence, the developed filter shows a three-pole passband response with low insertion loss and a sharp passband skirt because of four transmission zeros, as well as a very wide stopband. Fabrications and measurements of the filters are carried out to validate the effectiveness of the proposed resonator.
