A Hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) aqueous solution has cholesteric liquid crystal phase and is colored by a selective reflection. Because the selective reflection depends on concentration of additive ion, the color can be changed by applied voltage. However, because of their high viscosity, it took more than one hour to change the color. In this study, the response time of the color change was shortened to less than one hour, successfully. |
