Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The narrative generation system that we have been studying is a system integrating artificial intelligence/ cognitive science and narratology/ literary theories to automatically generate narrative texts. Conceptual dictionary or conceptual system in this narrative generation system provides knowledge of verb concepts and noun concepts which are associated with an event concept that is a basic constitutional unit in narrative. Specifically, an event concept that is described by the case frame form associating the verb concept with noun concepts acquires a fundamental semantic definition based on the ordinary everyday naturalness through the description of the kinds of deep frames that the verb concept requires and constraints (ranges) in the cases. Currently, the dictionary contains 4620 verb concepts and 139819 noun concepts. In this paper, first, we present the objective and constituents of conceptual dictionary and show present state of the development. Next, we consider several problems through a tentative evaluation for checking whether events generated using the conceptual dictionary are natural. Finally, we introduce two mechanisms in which the conceptual dictionary is used.
