[Invited Talk] Organic Devices and Sensors Utilizing Evanescent Waves and Surface Plasmon Resonance

(in English) Recently, many researches on the organic electronics and photonics are carried out for the development of organic devices and sensors, which are flexible, cost-effective, and ease in mass production. Particularly, organic field effect transistors, organic light-emitting diodes, organic solar cells and biosensors have been very actively studied. The optical techniques utilizing evanescent waves and surface plasmon resonance (SPR) due to surface plasmon (SP) excitation at the interface between metal and dielectric materials are quite useful for evaluation of organic ultrathin films and applications to organic devices and sensors. In this paper, our recent developments of organic devices and sensors utilizing evanescent waves and SPR are overviewed.
