| (in English) | Theta, beta, and gamma waves observed in rat hippocampus are related to memory process. They are also reproduced in a hippocampal slices from a rat hippocampus. They are called theta, beta, and gamma oscillation. Hippocampus does not only have the functional rhythm but also the pathological rhythm epileptic discharges. The functional rhythm and epileptic rhythm are measured by the extracellular recording and are reflected the population firing of the hippocampal neurons. It is so far found that with the application of cholinergic agent carbachol picrotoxin-induced epileptic discharges were suppressed and were changed to the beta oscillation whose frequency was12-30 Hz. In the present study, the spatial character of the synchronization of the epileptic discharges and beta oscillation in a rat hippocampal slice was studied using a glass electrode, a pair of the electrodes, and an electrode with multi recording sites. | |
