Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We have proposed a high sensitivity coherent optical time domain reflectometry employing frequency division multiplexing (FDM-OTDR) for diagnosing optical submarine fiber links. We demonstrate a FDM-OTDR employing dummy pulses for measurement of optical amplifier submarine transmission lines. The detective sensitivity performance with FDM-OTDR operated at 40 frequency division multiplexing was improved by about 8 dB compared with the conventional method.
