Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In this paper, the sparsely encoded Hopfield model with unit replacement is analyzed by a statical mechanics, self-consistent signal-to-noise analysis (SCSNA).
Using the SCSNA and the computer simulation, we show the relation between the storage capacity and the number of replacement units at each sparseness.

Moreover, we compare the unit replacement procedure with the forgetting process, which avoids overloading as well as the unit replacement.
Results show that the unit replacement model has a finite value of the optimal sparseness to maximize the storage capacity for the large number of replacement units, although the forgetting process model does not.
