Fault-resilience and Research Trends of New Generation Network

(in English) The Tohoku Earthquake and the successive tsunami on 11 March 2011 disabled the communication infrastructure in these area as well as trunk lines to those areas. Toward fault-resilient networks utilizing their remaining network resources at maximum and providing the services by the same user interfaces as usual, this paper gives a taxonomy of divided access networks in those areas, and analyses their effect on the services on the Internet and NDN (Named Data Networking). This paper selects NDN from various network technologies towards the future Internet since it focuses on the optimum content distribution, which is an opposite problem domain to that of divided access networks. Although NDN has several problems to overcome in these situations, it has notable dependability, and this paper listed several issues.
