A phase-shifted element generating an Airy beam, which consists of dielectric blocks with a metal plate, is developed and analyzed by the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. First, an orthogonal type transmissive phase-sifted element is analyzed. The propagating wave generated by the element is compared with that of the Airy beam. By choosing the optimum thickness of the dielectric blocks, the propagation characteristics of the transmitted wave can be similar to those of the Airy beam. Next, to mechanically support the configuration, we propose a reflective phase-shifted element. This element consists of the dielectric blocks on the metal plate. The propagation characteristics of the reflected wave are found to be close to those of the Airy beam. Additionally, quarter circular arc type transmissive and reflected phase-shifted elements are analyzed. It is found that the circular type also acts as a transformation element generating the Airy beam. |
