A silencer (30dB of attenuation) with a soft acoustic feature of the open end of an acoustic tube which has good reduction performance at low frequencies of noise source has been studied. In addition, since it is unrealizable with a general material, the soft surface is realized by approximation using quarter-wavelength sound tubes. In the previous paper [1] using quarter-wavelength sound tubes for noise control has been carried out until now. For the acoustic intensity measurement to clear the mechanism of attenuation, an intensity probe microphone system to measure on surface of sound source in very near-field (5mm) has been developed. The measurement accuracy of near field acoustic holography and dual microphone intensity measurement techniques are examined in terms of source identification capabilities and sound intensity level estimates. The sound pressure maps measured by the probe correlated extremely well with the near field (5mm) acoustic holography projections. Data was analyzed at from 315Hz to 2000Hz. Finally, the noise reduction mechanism with 21 acoustic tubes (diameter; 47mm, length; 130mm) were measured by the above acoustic intensity system. From the results, it can be said that the techniques can be applied according to their mounted method to best evaluate the test structure. |
