Many cars have acoustic problems that interfere with an in-dash receiver's ability to produce clear, well-balanced sound. For listeners, several loudspeakers are positioned asymmetrically. Compared to an ordinary listening room, an automobile presents a very different acoustic environment. Doors are acceptable for midbasses playing below 500Hz[1], but are poor for midranges of any kind. Therefore, in this paper, for placing a sweet spot for the sounds at the driver seat and the passenger seat, a multi-way system with four small horn tweeters on the dashboard panel is proposed. To minimize the sound interference between the seat places, a small horn loudspeaker is designed and made that the low-cut frequency is 500Hz, the half value angle of directional characteristic is less 50 degree, and the size is 34mm height × 72.6mm width ×120mm length. The horn tweeters for a multi-way system were experimentally discussed whether is effective to produce clear and well-balanced sound. The results suggest that an effective control method for a resonance phenomenon of about Q=10 with the horn tweeters is one way to use an acoustic absorption material, and the multi-way system combined the four horn tweeters is more effective than a typical car audio system in sound quality. |
