A Study on Light Source Estimation from a Face Image

(in English) In this paper, we propose a method of estimating illumination distribution from a single real image including a human face. It is necessary to acquire optics information of the real space to let a virtual object and photograph blend without the sense of incongruity. Some methods to estimate light source environment by a photograph have already been suggested, but it is difficult to use it for a general image because there are many things for the objects that a three-dimensional shape is known. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest the method to estimate light source environment that we can use for a general image by making the face of the person 3D model. We measure the strength ratio of direct light and ambient light in the real space, and evaluate it for a snapshot photographed under general light source environment by matching it with the light source environment at the time of the experiment on this occasion whether suggestion technique is useful. In addition, we separate a diffusion reflection ingredient and a specular reflection ingredient for the reflection model of the 3D face model and perform a light source estimation for each other and report the experimental results that compared both.
