Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Due to increasing deployment of wireless LAN access point (AP) in indoor environments, inter-cell interference (ICI) from nearby cells have increased. ICI degrades the spectral frequency utilization. In this paper, we present the experimental results of the ICI mitigation effect by beam tilt control with a vertical antenna array. The beam tilt control has mainly been applied by cellular systems to mitigate ICI. In cellular systems, the beam directivity directly relates to the cell layout because angular variance of refraction waves in outdoor environments is much smaller than that in indoor environment. ICI mitigation effect by beam tilt control is not clear in a multi-path rich environment. In order to clarify the ICI mitigation effect by the beam tilt control in an indoor environment, we measured Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) channels between transmitter antennas with four horizontal and eight vertical antennas and receiver antennas with four horizontal antennas in office environment. We evaluated the effect of the beam tilt control using the measured MIMO channels. The experimental results showed that beam tilt control with eight vertical antennas achieves ICI mitigation effect by 20 % in an indoor environment. Furthermore, we found that capacities to desired receivers by the beam tilt control are also improved by 10 %.
