A New Distributed Storage System Ensuring Security and Reliability

(in English) With the growing volume of data generating on diversified information equipment such as smartphones across the network, the demand for secure and reliable high-capacity data storage has increased significantly. In particular, when the storage is composed of storage nodes that are individually unreliable or can be affected by large-scale disasters, the architecture of distributed storage systems is of practical importance. For the purpose of storing data securely and reliably, a variety of ways such as using secret sharing and using Reed-Solomon coding have been proposed. However those are insufficient for the distribution of “big data” over a considerable number of storage nodes in terms of redundancy-reliability trade-off. In this paper, a new architecture of distributed storage is proposed in such a way that All-Or-Nothing coding improves security and that Fountain coding enhances availability and fault-tolerance.
