Example-based machine translation system from Japanese to Sign Language with CG-animation

(in English) This paper describes our developing machine translation system from Japanese to JSL(Japanese Sign Language) with CG-animation. Our system consists of a language transfer module and a CG generation module. The language transfer module translates Japanese words into JSL words by using translation templates based on bilingual examples. The templates include variable words aligned between Japanese and JSL. While the CG generation module converts the JSL words to CG animations based on Japanese-JSL bilingual lexicon and makes transitional movements between the CG-animations by using linear interpolation.
